MORENO, NEYMAR TOP GOALSCORERS' LIST

Bolivia marksman Marcelo Moreno and Brazilian star Neymar are at the top of the list of goalscorers in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers as far as the South American region is concerned.

Moreno has been in very good form for Bolivia who are surprisingly still in contention to bag a spot in Qatar later this year. The Bolivians are in eighth position on the South American standings ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament after recording 15 points from 14 games, but significantly, they are two points off fifth-placed Peru who occupy the inter-confederation playoffs spot and also two points off Colombia in fourth place which is the last automatic spot for the teams in South America.

In the last World Cup 2022 qualifier for Bolivia, Moreno scored the second goal as his team secured a surprising 3-0 win over Uruguay at home to boost their qualification hopes. The goal against the Uruguayans on Matchday 14 took his tally to nine goals in the qualifiers and two more than nearest challenger Neymar who has seven goals in this World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign. Paris Saint Germain (PSG) attacker Neymar missed out on the Matchday 14 clash between Argentina and Brazil due to injury. Argentina could not break down the Brazil rearguard at home as the two unbeaten teams settled for a goalless draw.

Seven-time Ballon d'Or recipient Lionel Messi featured for Argentina during the Brazil game but he was unable to find the back of the net. He's the third highest goalscorer in the South American region as far as the World Cup 2022 qualifiers are concerned.

Moreno, Neymar and Messi are the top three, while the next four on the list have scored five goals each. They are Lautaro Martinez of Argentina, Michael Estrada of Ecuador, Christian Cueva of Peru and Luis Suarez of Uruguay.
