LIVERPOOL TO PLAY IN NEW STADIUM FOR CLUB WORLD CUP CLASH

The 2022 World Cup is two years away and host nation Qatar have continued to ramp up the construction of infrastructures for the tournament. One of the Stadiums that is expected to host the tournament the Education City Stadium has been completed.


The stadium which has a capacity of 40,000 seats will host the semifinals of the World Club tournament to be held in December. This is part of the test running of the stadium ahead of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The World Cup in Qatar caused several controversies when it was awarded a decade ago but the Asian nation has been putting all efforts to deliver a hitch-free tournament. Record money has been spent in the construction of stadiums, road network and other infrastructure in anticipation of the event.

It is expected that over 1 million fans will grace the event in 2022 which would be the last tournament in its current format of 32 teams. However, Qatar have suffered low crowds in the recent World Athletics Championship currently running in the country.

The Club World Cup will represent the next biggest event in the nation with Liverpool taking part in the tournament.

The Reds will be representing Europe and will go automatically into a semifinal where they could play local side Al Sadd, Hienghene Sport of New Caledonia or Mexican outfit Monterey.

It would be interesting to see if Liverpool play Al Sadd who are managed by Barcelona great Xavi Hernandez. The FIFA World Cup is expected to hold in winter 2022 due to the intense heat that occurs in the summer.

Several federations hve begun their qualifying rounds for the tournament as the date comes closer. Qatar will be looking towards a successful Club World Cup in December.
