SQUAD PLAYERS

Roy Hodgson has revealed that he will be using some of the squad players for the match against Denmark, which will be England's final competitive encounter before they play at the 2014 World Cup.

He has said that since this is the final competitive match, he will be resting some of the players who are 100% certain to play in the matches at World Cup. This will certainly include players like Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard. It is expected that the likes of Andros Townsend, who are still establishing themselves in the first-team, will be utilised against Denmark.

There will be pressure on Hodgson ahead of this match since England could theoretically face a third straight defeat at Wembley. However, the manager has revealed that this does not worry him a lot because it is more important to get the players playing in his style of football. Against the likes of Chile and Germany, Hodgson introduced a couple of players like Jay Rodriguez and Fraser Forster. Even though England suffered defeats in both these matches, it is unlikely to have destroyed the hopes of these two players reappearing for the national team.

"I might risk a third defeat, but for the game against Denmark, it might be that we actually use players that we need to test out more and that we rest the players who we are 100 per cent certain of. We certainly have no reason to panic. If anything I think I am much wiser after the two games with regard to the players I have at my disposition and with regard to what we need to work on going into Brazil," said Hodgson.

The manager, though, has ruled out introducing new players to the squad saying that only these players will be chosen for the final 30.
