World Cup qualification is priority for the Canadian side

United States faced off with the Canadian national football team a few weeks ago on February 6 in a friendly match which finished with a final scoreboard of 1-0 in favor of the American team. The only goal of the entire match was scored by Jozy Altidore at the 89th minute as he connected with a cross from Ethan Finlay and found the back of the net in the last few minutes of the encounter.

"The U.S. had a very good balance as far as tactical movement. They moved the ball very well. In the second half, the fitness level wasn't there and they had more scoring chances. We use every camp and every day to not only look forward to the next opponent. We look to get better every day and every camp." Canada’s head coach Benito Floro said after the game reached it’s end.

This match was only a friendly game between these 2 national sides which served as preparation for both teams. United States as well as Canada are getting ready for their approaching 2018 World Cup qualifications.

Canada’s next World Cup qualification game is against Mexico in a game that will be played at the BC Place Stadium on March 26 and the Canadian team has to secure a victory in order for them to ensure their progression to the next rounds of the tournament. The latest odds of them qualifying at StanJames suggest that this will be a more difficult task thatn facing the USA side, with Canada the outsiders at 2/1.

It has been reported that there have already been over 30,000 tickets sold even though there still is a lengthy period of time left before it actually kicks off. Canada was pitted in Group A along with Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras and the Canadian national side is currently positioned in 2nd place after having collected 4 points from their opening 2 games but they will need at least 1 more victory in order to secure their progression, Mexico on the other hand is in a more comfortable position as they are currently at the top of Group A but they are also going to be in search of a triumph.
